Who Are We?

The His Way Up trust was formed on 1 November 2004 and registered as a charity on 15 February 2005. You can view our entry in the central register of charities maintained by the Charity Commission for England and Wales by clicking here.

His Way Up are the board of trustees - Chris Sealy, Sue Sealy, Ruth Lloyd-Smith, Lisa Avery and Leila Wildsmith - and our sole employee Gavin Owen.

Where Are We?

His Way Up is based in the town of Melksham in Wiltshire but our work is not limited geographically.

What Do We Do?

The objects of the trust are:

1. To advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public.
2. To advance the education of the public in the subject of the Christian faith.
3. To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth with the object of improving their conditions of life.

How Did We Get Started?

His Way Up was founded to support the work of Gavin Owen. Gavin and his wife Naomi moved to Melksham in 2000 and soon became involved in the youth work at a local church. At the time Gavin was running a one-man IT Consultancy but over the next few years as his commitment to working with young people grew it became increasingly difficult to keep the business operating. Gavin prayed that if God wanted him to continue expanding his work with young people that he would make it possible. About a year later Gavin was approached by someone who had been led by God to offer financial support to enable him to take on God's work full-time. Gavin identified a number of key people that he believed could offer him both support and accountability and invited them to found the His Way Up trust. All those who were asked accepted the invitation and His Way Up was duly formed.

What's In a Name?

There are two ideas behind the name His Way Up. Firstly we believe that we all need to see things from God's point of view so that the work we do for him is about what he wants, not what we want. Secondly we want to help young people meet Jesus and realise that his is the only way up to heaven.

Why that Logo?

Our logo and the colours used on this website are inspired by the design of roadsigns in the United Kingdom.
