Schools Work > Primary Assemblies

Sat through one dull, boring assembly too many?
Ready to scream if you hear the story of the Good Samaritan again?

Want to see children laughing and smiling as they learn about God?
Want to see a room full of children and staff singing and dancing?

Our primary schools worker, Gavin Owen, is an assembly veteran, having taken 1361 assemblies with children in Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in schools ranging from 35 to 400 pupils, from Church of England Voluntary Controlled to Community schools. Gavin uses a blend of storytelling, drama, tricks, action songs, multi-media and more to bring God's word to life and make it relevant for children today.

“Frequent eruptions of laughter and excitement are the hall-mark of Gavin's assemblies at The Manor School! Happy children, joyful noise and a great deal of fun are had by all attending. Gavin has a magic touch, and uses it. Cards change their suits, balloons vanish and mysterious objects appear in mysterious places. Young people are riveted; and then a story starts. Told with immense energy, these narratives invite us to walk with people from Bible times, they show how God solves problems, they introduce us to the cast of the greatest book on Earth and they hold our attention! Finally round off with an exuberant action song. Bounce with the joy of it! Then back to the National Curriculum, happy and a little wiser than when we woke up! Well done Gavin, we like your assemblies, keep up the good work!”
David Hester, deputy head teacher The Manor School

“Gavin is a ray of sunshine for the school ... I really appreciate all his skill and hard work.”
Kay Vousden, head teacher Heddington Primary School

“FANTASTIC assemblies ... voted one of our best visitors of the year by the staff and pupils.”
Linda Davies, head teacher Neston Primary School

In the 2009/10 academic year Gavin took 273 assemblies in 28 schools which was only possible because so many schools wanted him to come back again and again.

Gavin is available to take assembly at primary and junior schools within a 20 mile radius of our office in Melksham, Wiltshire (further afield by special arrangement).

There is no charge for a school assembly but any contribution towards travelling expenses or a donation to His Way Up will always be welcome.
